godmother's duty

ten years ago today i became
a
godmother
i really had no idea
what that entailed.
what would i be expected to do?
would i have to teach her?
what role would I play in her life?
all this went through my head
i had known her mother a few
years.
we became instant friends.









after a short period of time
it was sisterhood for sure.
a sister from another mister.
instant mesh.
when dill pickle (name changed for privacy)
was born she was just beautiful.








it was special for me to be apart of the
event. let
alone in the room when she delivers.
I mean WOW.

a c-section was done.
and side note
for those who have never been in a
place witnessing a birth.
let me warn you and say
You.Will.Forever.
Be.A.
Changed.
Person.
it is a MIRACLE to witness such
a special moment.
i made sure to inform the doctor to cover
her girlie parts
(he laughed a lot actually)
we were asked how long we were
dating
(we laughed loudly and informed them
we were sisters)

the doctor then gave a warning
and said you may not want to see
what is coming up next.

WHAT?
WAIT?
WHY?
her stuff is covered right?
i knew she didn't care
so i watched the ENTIRE
process from cutting to pulling to
BIRTH
it was amazing.
saw things no women would see
unless you were in the room with another
it was crazy and amazing
just spectacular.
i was the first to hold my god daughter
i took her to the recovery room and watched
stood for hours and watched ever minute of
her beginning.












i can't believe that 10 years ago
i held a gift and precious
innocent life in my arms
as she took her first look of this world
she just entered.
she has grown into a sassy, beautiful, intelligent
young lady. I
couldn't be more proud.
